That's a Line 6 POD 2.0 up there, on top of a '79 Twin. This "vintage" of Twin ran about 135 watts, really loud and really clean. I believe that Fender was trying to compete with the new transistor amps that were popular then, notably the Roland JC120. If you tried to overdrive the channel on one of these, it wasn't pretty. They just crapped out. So, a perfect candidate for one of these Pod things. I use it as a sound processor, running mostly the older Marshall, Fender and Vox sounds (forget the modern sounds) through this nice loud, clean tube amp. Now, I know there are a lot of purist who poopoo anything digital, but until I get my Blackface, which is probably never at the prices those things go for these days, this setup'll do. It will leave claw marks on your ass. (I love that line.) |
